Merry Christmas

Well it's Christmas time again!  The holidays sure have a way of sneaking up on a person, and the months just fly by. Christmas is my favorite holiday of the whole year.  People are kinder to one another and, most importantly, it's Jesus birthday!
As I get older Christmas celebrations change. When my 2 sons were little, Christmas was fun, putting up a real tree, making them believe in Santa by putting cookies and milk out on the coffee table and then after they went to bed, I'd have to remember to go eat some of the cookies and drink a sip of milk.  Oh my how there little faces lit up as they believed this magical fellow came around in the middle of the night and left them presents. As they grew up and were taught the REAL meaning of the Christmas holiday, the celebrations took on a bit of a different meaning but just as much fun.  Getting together for holiday meals at my son's, after he married and had his 2 children, were by far something I looked forward to each year. I'd always have a flower shop send something beautiful for their dining room table as we ate till we thought we'd bust!!

In later years, I started cooking the Christmas dinner again and would have my son's and their families come over. I'd bake pies and make cookies ahead of time.  We 'd sit around and play Uno and laugh and have a wonderful time.

Now as I'm retired, everyone kind of drifted into doing their own thing. My grandkids are growing so fast. My son is divorced so that splits the family up and we no longer get together at Christmas like we used to. My oldest son never married and he works every chance he gets.  My youngest son keeps telling me, "mom, Christmas is just another day" But Christmas IS NOT just another day TO ME, it's still my favorite holiday of the whole year.

I now have a companion and 2 little yorkshire terriers (who I spoil rotten) and I'm totally enjoying Christmas once again, only in a different way.  I just have to grow with the changes that life brings and embrace them so long as I have my health and am able to be thankful for all the blessings that God has bestowed on me, I will always enjoy Christmas and it'll always be my favorite holiday of the whole year!

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday, Jesus
